    Rachel Hill Borntreger

Rachel Hill Borntreger is an associate attorney with the Thurman Law Firm and a Tallahassee native. Rachel has practiced family law almost exclusively for the past five years, with nearly ten years’ experience in the legal field.  Rachel is presently certified in Collaborative Law Practice, is a qualified Parenting Coordinator and is a Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.

After receiving her Bachelor of Science from Flagler College, Rachel obtained her Juris Doctorate from the Florida State University College of Law, where she graduated with honors. While at Florida State, she received the College of Law's Certificate of Outstanding Pro Bono Service and was inducted as a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Rachel also served as a member and editor on the Journal of Transnational Law & Policy and as a Director for the Women's Law Symposium, where she actively fundraised for the North Florida Women's Refuge House.

For Rachel, protecting the rights of children was the primary force that drove her to pursue a profession in law. Before attending law school, Rachel volunteered significant time as a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem, advocating for children’s rights in Leon County. Once in law school, Rachel focused her course studies on the areas of children and family law and served as a Supreme Court Certified Legal Intern with the Public Interest Law Center Family Law Clinic, representing clients in dependency, dissolution and paternity proceedings.

In her personal time, Rachel enjoys playing and listening to music, volunteering her time with the Tallahassee YMCA, pursuing her own fitness goals and spending time with her husband, Jason, and their German Shepherd, Samson.
